Five Myths About Renting Salon Suites

Now, though, let’s talk about five myths regarding renting salon suites.

Myth #1: Salon suite rentals are good for everyone

This is absolutely not true. Not everyone is cut out to be a business owner. Not everyone is made of the right stuff. Not everyone is a self-starter. Not everyone handles the stress of running a business well.  That’s just the reality of this industry. There is a reason why so many beauty professionals remain working in a beauty salon owned by someone else: they are comfortable working for someone else, without the risk involved in owning a business, and that is perfectly all right.

Myth #2: All salon booth rentals are the same

This is absolutely untrue. There are quite a few salon booth rental opportunities available in major cities these days. It is the exciting new trend in the beauty industry.  That being said, it is important to realize that not all salon booth rental opportunities are the same.  The difference lies in the cost of the salon suite and the list of amenities included in that cost.

Myth #3: Everyone succeeds with a salon chair rental

Sadly no, not everyone succeeds with a salon chair rental, for a variety of reasons. We wish this were not so, but it is.  As successful as Salon & Spa Galleria is, and has been, we still have clients who do not make it as entrepreneurs. Our suggestion before you say yes to a salon suite opportunity: arm yourself with as much information as you can. Talk to those to are currently leasing salon suites.  Ask them if they like it. Ask them why they are successful. Ask them for their honest opinions.

Myth #4: Risks are minimal when renting a salon suite

We will say this: it is less expensive to lease a salon suite than it is to own a beauty salon. Without a doubt that it true. But there are still expenses, and if you are not successful, your financial future hangs in the balance. We would call that a sizeable risk, wouldn’t you?

Myth #5: People will just flock to your salon suite

You start out with whatever client list you have.  That client list may, or may not, be enough to keep you afloat during the early months.  Having said that, any new customers will arrive to your salon suite only if you do a great job of marketing, and only if the service you provide is of high quality.  You will get out of this experience what you put into it.
