Alliance, Texas – November 2, 2021 – Katie Burks, owner of Opal of My Eye Salon, knows that her clients are looking for something special. “I love making people feel empowered and helping them fall in love with themselves, especially women. I want them to see their beauty through a magical lens,” said Burks.

A graduate of the prestigious Aveda Institute in Dallas, she has spent three years perfecting her skills and is constantly looking for ways to advance in her profession. “I am always looking for training to update and further my knowledge in the industry. I have someone I see for my skincare and would love to recommend her to people. As far as my salon knowledge, I don’t think I can ever have too much!”

When asked about the intriguing name of her business, Burks explains, “My salon is named after my grandma Alice Opal! I am one of nine kids, eight of whom are girls, so I definitely love to highlight someone’s unique attributes.” She carries that inspiration into the work she does for her clients.

Burks explains, “I have a passion for fine hair. I continually add to my knowledge and refine my skills based on different methods I test on myself. I think most people see fine and straight hair as a desirable trait, but they underestimate the importance of proper hair care. It’s easy to style and go, but it takes a lot of effort to try something new and we have to wash and style it so much more often.” She is happy to learn and share best practices. “I love to work alongside people, so we learn from each other. I have more of a passion for teaching my clients better practices and spreading that knowledge to them.”

When asked about the most important services offered in her Alliance salon suite, Burks explains: “Proper aftercare once you have had any form of blonding done, haircuts not only when necessary, but to encourage growth and even a simple deep conditioning treatment and a blowout can go a long way!”

Burks sets herself apart from other stylists in several ways. “While experience and expertise are important in this industry, I’ve found that people want a stylist they can relax and escape reality with. I love talking to people and hearing about their experiences. I think having me as a stylist is the best part of the experience because I have a personality that thrives around people. I love to talk almost as much as I love to listen, and I never have an uncomfortable experience with someone I just met. I’ve never met anyone who I couldn’t talk to. I create relationships with my clients.”

She is excited about her new location at Alliance TX Salon & Spa Galleria. “Alliance is an up-and-coming area with a lot of new businesses. Plus, the salon being made of recycled shipping containers is very unique!”

Burks offers a 25% discount for new clients and has a great referral program. Doing bridal and event hair and makeup on the weekends is a large part of her salon business. She maintains an active social media presence on Facebook under Opal of My Eye, and on Instagram under opelofmyeye204.
