If you are in the hair styling business, you probably have noticed the recent proliferation of small hair salons, one-or-two owner hair salons, as opposed to the traditional hair salons which had multiple styling stations in a large retail establishment.

There are reasons why this trend is happening, and those reasons are the purpose of this article.

We are Salon & Spa Galleria, serving the Greater Fort Worth area with twenty-two salon suite rental locations. Call us at 817-917-1416 for more information and to arrange to tour our facilities.

Small hair salons are a product of a changing economy.

A thing called COVID turned the economy upside down, and established ways of doing business fell by the wayside as a result. One trend which emerged, after so many people lost their jobs during the epidemic, was the increase in people starting their own businesses. They lost faith in the system, they had saved a little money, and they decided to follow a new path.  Many started in home-based businesses, found success, and grew from there.

The bottom line was what we see today: a huge increase in small businesses, and that increase is, well, increasing.

The advent of salon suite rentals led to increase in small hair salons.

At the same time the established ways of doing business were changing, and trends began to form, it became apparent that small hair salon owners needed retail locations they could afford. Thus, the advent of salon suite rental agencies like Salon & Spa Galleria.

For example, Salon & Spa Galleria offers a salon suite for only $75 per week. That means, for only $300 per month, a small business owner can have a retail location from which to operate a hair salon. That is an incredibly low rental price for a retail location, and that low rental price eliminates much of the risk, which is what we will now talk about.

It is less-risky to have small beauty salons as opposed to large ones.

Large businesses mean large risks.  The more employees a business owner has, the more taxes that must be paid, and the more paperwork which needs to take time to complete.

We speak from experience here. We have twenty-two locations, each one with small business owners operating their businesses, and the majority of them are flourishing, and the majority of them will tell you they are thrilled by the profits they are making by going it alone or with one other employee.

Can you make a large hair salon profitable? Of course you can, but it is our experience that the risks and efforts are multiplied many times over.

A final word about Salon & Spa Galleria.
